New look MILWEB clicks into higher gear in April 2008

Following a major investment, MILWEB’s complete makeover is now complete. Sitting on our own dedicated high speed server, the revamped site offers enhanced features to both visitors and advertisers.

As well as over 1500 classified adverts and trade adverts from hundreds of dealers and service providers, the new site departs from our traditional “advertising only” focus to include News, Event Reports, Book Reviews, Features and Picture Galleries – contributed by well known military writers. We are also encouraging our visitors to submit articles about all aspects of the military hobby. So those on the move don’t miss out on the latest adverts, MILWEB now includes an RSS feed.

In the nine years since it’s launch, www.milweb.net has taken the UK military vehicle market onto the Internet and rapidly became the world’s biggest online marketplace for military vehicles and militaria. MILWEB climbed quickly through the search engine rankings to becoming Number One on Google for “Military Vehicles” a position we have held for the last 4 years – out of a choice of over 3 million pages!

Undoubtedly MILWEB is firmly established as the focal point for the military vehicle and militaria market. British Deactivated Gun Collectors Association

Current political sound bites abound about restricting legally de-activated weapons, and the annoucement that the Home Secretary Jacqui Smith wants to tighten up the law regarding pre-1995 deactivated guns. This represents a potential threat to genuine, law-abiding collectors who have spent years and not insubstantial amounts of money building their collections.

Steve Littlejohn of Arundel Militaria has set up the British Deactivated Gun Collectors Association to form a cohesive group to monitor the situation and to work to minimise the impact on genuine collectors. Steve says "As is usual in these situations, some people are stating to panic. Do not be panicked into selling your collection. No decision has been made with regard to legislation, there is no evidence that old specification weapons are a problem, or that legislation will make an iota of difference to gun crime. Or indeed what form the legislation, if any will take. If banning legal ownership of handguns only had the result in increasing gun crime how is legislating on deactivated and inoperable guns going to help?"
