4 wheeled Sankey / Land Rover based Expedition Trailer manufactured over the last 18 months to an extremely high standard.
The chassis is made up from a pair of Narrow track ex military Sankey trailers which have been professionally adapted and welded together to make a 4 wheeled variant. The standard Nato towing pintle has been re-positioned to inside of the chassis frame which give this trailer a level towing height when hitched to a Land Rover product. The axle have been changed to standard series Land Rover type, which increases the track to match that of the towing vehicle All the correct Sankey trailer spring mounting points have been re-manufactured to allow the Land Rover axles to be correctly mounted. All axle ends have been replaced with all new components. Hubs, Drive members, Bearings, Seals, Gaskets, Wheel cylinders, Brake shoes and Drums. 4 New genuine Sankey trailer springs have been fitted with Land Rover shock absorbers with Aeon spring assisters fitted. hydraulic overrun braking system on all wheels with Hydraulic lock off hand brake. Complete rewire with heavy duty cabling, waterproof connection blocks and new military sputnik glass lens lights. Currently the trailer is set up with a 12pin Nato connection. (There is an adaptor lead to convert from 12pin to 7pin electrics (available if needed) All lighting and reflectors are positioned in compliance with the UK trailer construction and use regulation. The body is custom designed and scratch built using high grade 3mm walled steel box section with aluminium panels chemically bonded in place. The middle section is accessible via 2 hatches in the base of the expedition tent with the front section accessed via the 2 side doors. The rear hatch over the cooking area opens vertically on gas struts. The floor and divider walls are made from pre treated ½” Marine grade plywood and the whole trailer has been painted in a Zinc etch based Satin Nato Green which is durable and easily touched up if marked. The expedition tent was commissioned as a one off to suit the trailer exactly.
Manufactured by the same company who also makes expedition tents for “ARB and Howlingmoon” and imported at great cost to the UK Offering a, 1.7 x 2.2m sleeping area above the trailer 2.3 x 2.7m leaving area or additional sleeping area beside the trailer 4.45 x 2.4m awning area The tent is completely flexible when set up and can be completely erected as shown in the photos or just the sleeping area or sleeping area with roof annex section plus with or without side / end walls. All Zip in place. Manufactured from Heavy duty 14oz Poly-Cotton rip-stop canvas (not nylon) and all sections are zipped in place and have re-enforced Valcro seams to stop any water ingress during the great British summer.
The main area has an integral PVC Floor lining which creates a completely sealed sleeping area. The pegs, poles and all guide ropes are extremely heavy duty to eliminate the risk of any parts being bent or snapped when used.
The trailer has the following equipment installed: Smev 9220 Built in twin gas hob with integral sink unit. 12v pumped cold water supply with 22 litre clean and 25 litre waste water tanks (these are external of the trailer for ease of filling/emptying and connect in through marine grade electrical sockets and quick release connections. 12v led lighting (2 mounted in the sleeping and side area, 1 mounted over the kitchen area) 12v Aux supply sockets Twin USB charging sockets (ideal for Phones, Tablets etc) run of the 12v system Twin 240v mains outlet sockets (when connected to a suitable supply via the external supply plug) Onboard Gas with Safety Regulator and Shutoff Valve 75amp hour leisure battery in bespoke cradle. Integral charger and power distribution unit with RCD and fused control for all aux trailer power systems. Anderson connection for slave power input from external source or 12v output. (vehicle or solar panels etc.) Mains 230- 250v input socket for on grid operations.
A bespoke full fitted PVC over cover to protect the trailer from the weather is also included. The cover has the feature to allow the rear cooking facilities to be accessed without the need to completely remove it. Ideal if you are stopping on the side of the road and just want a quick meal or drink. All 4 tyres are 750 x 16 Michelin XCLs and have loads of tread left on them. The trailer is 2.8 meters long and 1.75 meters wide (about the same width as a Series land rover)
