Genuine ex-SAS Gulf War Longline Light Strike Vehicle for sale (military registration 03 KK 78).
One of just five 4WD vehicles of this type built specifically for the SAS during the Gulf War and only three released by the MoD in the late 90's, comes complete with supporting paperwork. This vehicle also served with the Green Howards as part of 24 Air Mobile Brigade in 1991 following the end of the first Gulf War, as featured in the book Certain Shield by Michael Jerchel published by Concord Publications.
Powered by a VW 1.9 litre water cooled petrol engine from out of the VW Syncro Transporter 4WD van with large front diff and permanent 4WD system. Currently have the propshaft removed to eliminate driveline noise and wind up in the system as it's only been driven on the road since being rebuilt, but still have propshaft and doesn't take too long to refit it. Engine was completely rebuilt less than 50 miles ago with new pistons, liners, rings, head gaskets, head bolts, fuel pump etc. New Weber replacement carb fitted, but still have the original Pierburg carb, new exhaust fitted and still have original. MOT'd and taxed, new tyres all round. Thousand spent during rebuild and thousands spent prior to that by previous owner.
Fitted with deact .50cal HMG on genuine Vinghog softmount as used by SAS in the Gulf War (same type as on Land Rover DPVs), plus a replica Longline universal lower mount (not fully functioning) heavy duty construcion based on original Longline drawings. Comes complete with canvas cover for .50cal, plus ammo box and some deact shells. Finished in desert sand and grey camouflage as used by SAS during the Gulf War, with some accessories. Comes with photo copy of correct handbook for this type of Mk2 LSV.
This is a rare opportunity to own a real piece of modern British military history and what's more it's fairly practical in terms of size, weight and speed and as if that wasn't enough it's rare too, a classic of the future? Five figure price tag on application, no time wasters, dreamers or photo collectors please.
This is a very, very reluctant sale due to unforeseen circumstances, just wish I could afford to keep it myself.
