Although this is a Hotchkiss that was licensed to produce the Willys pattern jeep for use by the French military. 
It is better in many ways. This can be used safely on the busy highway and off road. There is no need to worry about damaging an historic vehicle.
This is made of more modern steel and has the upgrades and strengthened that the original Willys lacked.
It also has a new Go-Devil 2lt engine, 24V alternator and some very nicely disguised safety aspects. It can reach 60mph and has disk brakes to stop quickly.
The closing scenes in the film, “The Longest Day” uses a Hotchkiss and not a Willys jeep. This is ideal for film hire as it has no historic military value.
However it will continue to appreciate in value as it becomes rarer. A girl driving this Jeep will turn more male heads than a blond in a red sport car. Fact.
I have had this vehicle for over 20 years.
I have taken it to Normandy and back twice and attended a few rallies.
It drives really well and in convoy the disk brakes are essential.
I always made sure I was at the back. I regret selling this but I have it doing nothing in my garage and it really needs to be used by an enthusiast.
It has been highly reliable and during my regular maintenance schedules I have noted many original Willys parts.
The French company that bought the tooling also bought Willys stock parts. So I named it Fubar.
