Land Rover IIb Forward Control Firefly

This fire engine was stationed with the British Army of the Rhine in Germany for most of its service life and is therefore a left-hand drive vehicle.
The body was build by HCB - Angus in Southampton. According to the HCB register, only 26 vehicles of this type were build for the British Armed Forces.
First registration: 1972. Mileage: 17832.
The 6 cylinder engine was completely refurbished in July 1983.
During that time, the Army regulary replaced engines as part of a 10-year program. It can therefore be assumed that the engine has a much lower mileage than displayed. The fire engine is very unique and a genuine, authentic British Army vehicle from the Cold War era.
The restoration of the vehicle is nearly complete. All parts are included and have already been fully refurbished and are ready to use.
All it takes is assembly work and some spare time to do so. In 2003, the fire engine was painted to a high quality standard by a specialist, inside and out.
A photo documentation is available. The frame has been repaired and preserved. The brakes have been renewed. The vehicle ran without any problems until it was put into storage. The vehicle also comes with most of the equipment that it would have carried during its service.
The sale also includes the following: • Reproduced inscriptions and crests (Army Fire Service) • Original spare parts catalogs and various fire engine manuals, radios, antennas and speakers • 2 compressed air bottles and respirators • Service clothing - helmets, uniforms, headgear • Original license plates An extremely rare vehicle, of which there are maybe 10 left in the world, in a great state of restoration. Selling with a heavy heart but I am having to downsize my collection of vehicles. A visit to appreciate this extraordinary offer is warmly recommended.
