The cannon is in a very nice condition.
These 30 Pdr Cannons were made by the Walker Company in Staffordshire, England between 1820 and 1860.
Length: 249CM, Weight: 2510 KG.
The gun is situated in the South West of the Netherlands.
Gun order of 1833, purchased in England. They were of the 1817 model, but now with information on the trunnion: The foundry number, the weight in Kilograms, the initials of the foundry Walker Company and the year. This particular Cannon bears the markings on the right trunnion "wc" Walker Company, on the left trunnion 2510 P (in fact means 2510KG).
This gun was used in Zeeland Provinince, and after it went out of survice as a mooring bollard It was dug out around the year 2.000,
Fortunately it was in a great condition and later professionally cleaned and a durable coating was applied.
30 pounders of this type were the first to be equipped with a flint lock.
This resulted in more reliable and faster ignition of the powder in the pan. only a few of them remained and are displayed in museums or on old defensive walls
