This is a great condition hard-top 716 MK Pinzgauer. Built in 1996 in Austria and sold off by the UK MoD in 2020, bought by me from Haflinger Technik in late 2021. It was in excellent condition anyway, however, it had a respray in Land Rover 'Keswick Green' and also had the side windows reinstated (which the Army had removed and plated over). Just before it left service it had a front spring upgrade too. It has covered just over 34,000 miles, 14,000 of those miles with me.
It's fitted with the 2.4 VW 6 cylinder diesel and it runs very well, it's fitted with a 5 speed manual gearbox. It will have a new air filter and an oil and filter change again before it is sold. Long-term, it gets around 21-22 mpg. It had a set of five new Continental Cross Contact 235 tyres in summer 2023 which are great on and off road, and I have a spare 6 inch wheel rim too. It is 24v with two 12 volt batteries fitted. It has the unusual double locker fitted to the near side, handy to carry camping gear!
As JL17AA, it was used as an RLC bomb disposal vehicle during its military live, the light and sirens were removed though it retains the rear work light and has new LED strip lights fitted inside the back. It has a rear single seat by the door (no seatbelt) and also a two person Pinzgauer bench seat fitted (with belts). It a proper Pinzgauer mesh partition between front and read - the centre is removable and I have still have it. The rear black-out blind on the rear door is still there and I sourced the correct NATO green vinyl blinds to match for the side windows. The sliding side windows were reinstated - they aren't original VW versions (unobtainable now!) but excellent copies made in Canada which do the job and look right! The comfy Mercedes derived front seats are original green vinyl and undamaged and the seat belts were re-webbed in red, Haflinger Technik also supplied a replacement fuel tank sender unit so it now has a working fuel gauge. It had a new one-piece speedo cable fitted last year and had a new electric master switch fitted about 2 years ago. The final bit of the exhaust pipe which passes through the rear wheel arch was replaced with a custom-made stainless steel version a couple of years ago. It's been serviced annually and the last MOT (late 2024) had no advisories.
I have its UK military service history. It's in great condition and attracts attention wherever it goes! It's been on a number of UK Pinzgauer Club events and it's been to a few local shows too where it always creates conversations! It's been great fun to own but alas a new job with more travel means it's time for someone else to enjoy it!
Viewing welcome in Rutland.
