Iconic Tank Trainer from the Cold War era.
Made by Reflectone Corp in 1959 SN:10.
The M48 Patton Tank series was the primary U.S. tank during the Cold War.
Produced in large numbers, it served as the main U.S. tank in Europe, the Vietnam War, and beyond until it was replaced by the M60.
The M48 was supplied to numerous Allied countries and used successfully by Israel in the Six Day War and Yom Kippur War, among other conflicts of the era. The museum's turret trainer appears mostly complete, as far as we can tell.
The components all seem to be the actual parts or assemblies, except for the cannon.
The cannon has a ring that was de-milled per ATF standards. No breach block is present.
The barrel consists of double-wall, thin-gauge tubing.
This trainer is definitely the best way to view and understand the cramped conditions in a turret and the roles of crew members.
It makes an impressive display.
The overall condition is very good.
