Early Deact P 14 Remington Pattern Rifle manufactured circa June/July 1916 by Remington.
The Rifle has a * indicating it was modified to MKI*with enlarged bolt lugs and at some stage a Winchester made stock has been fitted.
The Rifle has the Weedon star which confirms it was modernized for WWII by ROF Weedon in 1940
1. Volley Sights Removed 2. Component Swaps: Weedon armourers stripped hundreds of rifles down to bare frames, repaired parts, and reassembled them without worrying about matching manufacturers. 3. Home Guard Deployment:
Once stamped with the Weedon star, these rifles were primarily issued to the British Home Guard or used as front-line training rifles to free up newer Lee-Enfield No. 4 rifles for the regular army.
The rifle is in good condition with an original Remmington Bolt; this was deactivated in 2011 so dry fires and field strips.
Deact certificate included.
Comes with Remington P1913 Bayonet made 7/1916, the Bayonet was issued to the South Africa Defence force (U marking on pommel) and comes with scabbard. The scabbard has the Lithgow star with the letter A inside denoting scabbard was made in Australia.
Very nice piece of history to own. The Rifle sling and bayonet frog are leather repros.
